Good evening residents.

It has been another lovely sunny day in Burton.

Progress on the new reservoir is going well and we will be placing the concrete into the floor slab this week. The steel fixers and the carpevters are working long hours to ensure we are ready to place the concrete.

Next week we will start to construct the walls which I am excited about as it will really start to look like a reservoir.

As always if you have any questions or concerns please give me a call.

Thanks

Barry

Hello everyone.

The dry weather is helping us progress on schedule. It also gives us a clean and tidy site.

The steelfixers are busy putting the renforcement steel into the first half of the floor.

There is 102 tonnes of steel reinforcement in each half of the floor slab so as you can imagine they will be very busy on this for a while.

The drainage underneath the reservoir is almost complete.

I hope we aren't causing to much disruption to you all at the minute. I am trying my best to control the deliveries and the delivery drivers.

Any problems please give me a call.

Thank you

Barry

Hello

Progress on site is going well despite the rain we had yesterday.

The drainage has been installed underneath the reservoir base and tomorrow we will be placing concrete over half of the reservoir to give us a solid base to work from when we start installing the reinforcement steel

If anybody requires more information or wants pictures of a particular operation we will be undertaking then please leave a reply and I will be happy to upload more pictures.

Thank you

Barry

Hi Residents.

There has been a lot of activity on site this morning and the weather isn't helping us hopefuly the rest of the week will remain dry.

We have a team on site from South Staffs Water carrying out trial holes to locate one of the existing water mains. There work should only take approximately one week.

My team are progressing really well and I expect all of the excavations to be completed by Wednesday!

Please get in touch with me if you have any concerns and I will do my best to address them.

Thank you

Barry

Hello residents!

The excavation work is progressing well and we have managed to excavate approximately 80% of the new tank area.

The access road that we are constructing within the site is 50% complete. This road will allow our delivery vehicles to be able to get to the work area and turn around before leaving the site which will eliminate the need for us to reverse the vehicles out of the site. And it seems the new time slot for deliveries is working well which I am very pleased about. Now that our site set up is complete, I can spread deliveries out during the day. So a little less disruption all round!

The new entrance gates are now up to replace the damaged brick pillars.

I hope our first week on site wasn't to painful for you all, but if you do have any questions please don't be shy, just leave a comment on here or give me a call on my mobile.

Thank you

Barry

The guys have had a very busy few days setting up now that the bulk of the deliveries have been made. Here is a quick welcome from our Project Manager Barry Chapman. If you see him bobbing about, do give him a wave!

Welcome to Outwoods Reservoir Community Portal.

South Staffs Water has two storage reservoirs on the Outwoods site one of which has been taken out of service.

It was decided to build a new reservoir on the site adjacent to reservoir no2. The reservoir will be constructed from reinforced concrete and will be partially buried. The exposed part of the new reservoir will have earth embankments to hide the concrete similar to the other reservoirs on the site.

Stonbury Ltd have been awarded the contract to construct the new storage reservoirs and mobilised to site on the 9th March. The construction period will be complete by winter 2017. It is our intention to have part of the reservoir constructed and in service by the 30th June 2017.

The site will be supervised by myself Barry Chapman, the Stonbury Project Manager. I will be on site most of the week so if there are any questions or problems please contact me on 07733 122722 or via the Community Portal. We welcome your feedback so please add your comments to the portal updates during the construction period.

We appreciate there is a lot going on in Reservoir Road at present with the new housing  site at the top of the road and the excavation outside our site being carried out by Western Power so we don’t want to add to that anymore than we have to. We have created a car park on site to ensure we get all our vehicles and South Staffs Water vehicles off Reservoir Road. We have had a few of the residents raise concerns about our delivery vehicles which we will address. As you can imagine the start of a large contract is very hectic trying to get all the large machinery and our welfare cabins delivered. We have now told all our suppliers not to deliver before 9.30am and not between 14.30 and 15.30 (we have now adjusted this to ensure no deliveries are made between 3 & 4pm).

There will be a further delivery on Tuesday 14th when the remaining welfare cabins will be delivered. The supplier has been asked to stagger the deliveries over the day to avoid congestion.

We will be installing a wheel wash for all vehicles delivering to site to avoid any mud being dropped on reservoir road. This will be monitored throughout the contract.

We will provide regular updates with pictures and videos to the Community Portal throughout the contract so please log in to keep updated with our progress.

Thanks, Barry
